Qualification -
Unit of Competency MEM27026 - Service and repair mobile plant air conditioning systems
Description
Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to service and repair in cabin air conditioning systems installed in mobile plant and rail vehicles. It covers systems supplying heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and cooling systems to operator compartments and includes servicing, fault finding, repairing and replacing of control and operating components, refrigerant check, replacement and recovery, and recommissioning of the air conditioning system. This unit forms part of the requirements to obtain an Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) Refrigerant handling licence – qualified persons (Automotive air conditioning licence.)In some jurisdictions, an occupational licence for refrigeration/air conditioning or electrical restricted licence may be required. Band: AUnit Weight: 4
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Submission Requirements

List each assessment task's title, type (eg project, observation/demonstration, essay, assignment, checklist) and due date here

Assessment task 1: [title]      Due date:

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

This field allows for different work environments and conditions that may affect performance. Essential operating conditions that may be present (depending on the work situation, needs of the candidate, accessibility of the item, and local industry and regional contexts) are included.

Mobile plant air conditioning systems include one (1) or more of the following:

in cabin units

above, behind or below cabin units

single units that feed two driver cabins (e.g. some locomotive systems)

Mobile plant air conditioning system components include one (1) or more of the following:

fieldbus system control unit, modules and sensors relevant to the air conditioning system

integrated or separate measurement/testing/data logging equipment

pumps

motors

compressors

condensers

filters

pipes and hoses

switches

valves

coils and radiators

receivers

ancillary equipment

Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
